| The Massahos family has been a staple in automotive care in the Salem, NH area since 1958. Jim Massahos bought the station from his father in 1976.
Jim learned the value of customer service at a young age. He remembers working at the shop after school to help his father in any way he could. Jim listened and learned from his father. "I did whatever he told me to do. I learned from the school of hard knocks." Now JIm is the boss and he instills the same enthusiasm toward customer service into his employees as his father did to him.
Gasoline customers are greeted with a smile. The bays in the shop are swept after every job is completed. Each employee goes out of his way to help the customer. Perhaps these are some of the reasons why R&J Getty has won every Getty Image Award that comes out, including winning Grand Prize in the image contest three times. Newly trained Getty representatives often come to Jim's station to learn what to expect a Getty Station should look like.
Repeat business is the key to R&J Getty's success, and without excellent service, the customer is less likely to come back. Jim makes clear the reason why he has thrived is his employees and the wide array of jobs they are able to perform. "We specialize in anything as simple as tire repair to as complicated as engine replacement. The reason why I have been so successful is the people I have working for me. All the guys really do care."
